What I Am Thankful for this Thanksgiving 2009

~
This morning, after I made this list of blessings for which I am thankful, I remembered that I had posted a list on my blog last year. I looked it up and found that this year’s list is quite similar; only the bold faced ones differ from last year’s.

My health
Having Fran in my life
My sons
My relatives, friends, & good acquaintances
Financial security with no debt
My faith
My memories
My talents & abilities
Maddie
My home
My coaching position

Last year’s (December 14, 2008) list:

1. Health (I am so blessed to have no back pain and good health.)

2. Fran (I never dreamed I’d ever have such a relationship. To love and be loved is everything. I feel God has saved the best for last.)

3. Family (Brooke Wade & his family and Brent give my life meaning.)

4. Extended family (I cherish the love and acceptance of the “clan” – as Uncle Ben used to call it.)

5. Friends (They say that friends are the family that you choose. I have a few close friends, whom I cherish, and many very good acquaintances.)

6. Memories (Memories of all the wonderful past occurrences, achievements and recognition, people, and blessings make my life what it is. How tragic it is to lose your memories!)

7. Retirement & Financial Security (The comfort and security of my secure retirement pension after 35 years of teaching allows me to enjoy these years. I am blessed not having to worry about money – through my pension, savings, & lifestyle.)

8. Maddie (My cat offers me companionship and warmth when I am home.)

9. Talents, Skills, & Abilities (I sometimes take for granted what I have accomplished and what I can do. I also get a sense of satisfaction and pleasure from using my skills for myself and to help others.)

10. Recognition & Achievements (I have received WAY more than my share of recognition for achievements – athletically, educationally, and professionally.)

11. Intelligence & Education (I’ve been blessed with some innate intelligence and quality education from York Suburban School District, Millersville State College, and Johns Hopkins University.)

12. Living in the United States (Although there are many problems in our country, I am so blessed to have been born here and to live in the best country on earth. It is indeed the land of freedom and opportunity.)
